Description
City of York Council has announced plans to cut up to 650 jobs in a bid to make £50m budget savings following the government spending review. Management is working with unions in order to reduce the need for compulsory redundancies. Proposed measures include natural wastage. The council leader also said it had already reduced the number of directors, assistant directors and senior managers. As of 22 November 2010 no date has been given for the implementation of the cuts.
