Description
Gateshead Council has announced plans to cut about 600 jobs as a result of proposed cuts in government grants. The Council aims at saving at least £25m from its budget in the next financial year. It plans a series of public meetings on the scale of the proposed government cuts as well as consultations with unions. The Council is seeking volunteers for redundancy but compulsory redundancies are not ruled out.
