Description

On June 28th, 2011 the manufacturer of engineered wood products Pfleiderer announced to shut down its production in Nidda by the end of the same month. The closure affects 140 employees. It is part of a restructuring programme announced in autumn 2010, which also affects Pfleiderer's sites in Ebbersdorf and Gschwend. Whilst this move was already announced in autumn 2010, the company is now negotiating employee' interests with union and employee representatives. The company had stated that the full realization of the restructuring plan will take until the second half of 2011 or even be carried into the first quarter of 2012. Pfleiderer currently employs some 5,600 staff.
