Description
Newport passport office has been earmarked for closure. There are only 7 passport offices in the UK and it is the only one that faces closure. The union representing workers at the passport office has said that it is "devastating" news that will leave Wales with an inferior passport service compared with the rest of the country. They have also criticised the move for its impact on the local economy.
No date has yet been given for the closure.
