Description

VR-Rata, a Finnish company specialising in railroad building and maintenance has opened negotiations with its staff about reducing 350-400 jobs.

VR-Rata is a part of VR Group, which is a state-owned enterprise formerly known as Valtionrautatiet (National Railways). The company cites diminished investment in railroad building as well as tightening competition for contracts as reasons for the proposed cuts.

Negotiations with the staff are mandatory and have to last at least 2 weeks. The company has staff in various locations in Finland.
