Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The Austrian company, Melecs, has announced its plan to hire 200 people in Győr, Hungary. The newly hired employees are recruited out of 450 employees of the recently closed Lite-on (see fact sheet on Lite-on)
Bernhard Pulverer, one of the three managing directors of the company says: that they have an annual turnover of 140 Million Euro, 100 Millio comes from electronic devices. A third of the electronics production from Austria shall be relocated to Győr. The trial period will start in October 2010.
MELECS GmbH specializes in electronics, mechanics and switchgears on washing machines, dishwashers, cookers and refrigerators. MELECS also produces terminals for TETRA, the international standard for digital wireless traffic.
