Description

On 17 May 2010 Toyota announced that they will remove the night shift (800 employees) from its plant in Onnaing, near Valenciennes, by 23 August and relocate these employees to their two day shifts. The restructuring is made necessary by the fall in European sales that the Japanese company has experience since the beginning of the auto industry crisis. As a result of the elimination of the night shift, the rate of production at the plant will continue to drop. Since the beginning on 2010, the plant has already let go all 650 of its temporary workers.
