Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Cable maker Nexans Euromold has announced plans to make 90 workers redundant in Aalst, Flanders. 75 production workers and 15 administrative staff are set to be affected by the job cuts. The factory had already put 40 per cent of its workers on a part-time unemployment programme having suffered a severe drop in business in 2009, which was reportedly partially caused by the collapse of the Spanish housing market.
