The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
On July 5, the airline company Air France announced to its central works council that it is to cut more than 4,000 jobs by 2013. Direct dismissals will be avoided; the job losses will be implemented through natural departures, voluntary redundancies (a plan was launched in 2009) and internal mobility. "There will be no new collective redundancy plan," said a spokesman of Air France. Unions underlined that there are no actual job cuts and were not surprised by this announcement.
