Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Aintree University Hospital on Merseyside has announced it will cut 300 jobs in the next few years. The cuts are due to the reduction in the NHS budget of between £15m and £20m over that time. A spokesman said that the consultation was still in 'its early stages', but that although the equivalent of 300 full time posts would need to be cut it did not necessarily mean 300 redundancies; all the staff have been offered voluntary redundancy and flexible working packages.
