Description

On July 1, call center operator Teleperformance, announced that it is to cut 830 jobs in France (which represents 13% of its workforce of 6,291 employees). The company plans to reduce excess capacity and streamline some operations into a lesser number of locations. Some 14 sites out of the existing 22 will be closed.

The company lost a few important contracts last year and reported an operating loss of 36 million euro. Teleperformance will close the call centers located in Marseille (25 jobs), Pantin (149), Rennes (194) and Tours (51). In four cities, where two centers exist, they will be merged. This merging will result in significant job cuts in Le Mans (41), Lyon (169), Orléans (71) and Toulouse (61). Finally, 9 jobs will be cut at the site in Bordeaux.

The procedure for information and consultation started on July 13, and workers went on strike on July 8. Temporary workers will lost their job too.
