Description
Lloyds bank has announced plans to cut 650 staff across the UK. 535 of the jobs will go at Chester following the closure of the bank's retail call centre. Lloyds also plans to close an insurance office in Nottingham and a network of 265 independent Halifax counters based within firms such as solicitors and estate agencies. The job losses are blamed on the re-organisation of the bank's retail, insurance and group operations divisions. Unions have called on the bank to avoid compulsory redundancies.
