Description
Monsanto, an American company specialized in biotechnology, announced on Thursday 22nd April its intention to cut 130 jobs in Antwerp (Flanders). Monsanto justified this decision after the announcement of another American firm, Solutia, to stop its vulcanisation activities. The Antwerp site is owned by Solutia but is managed by Monsanto and possesses a production unit for vulcanisation accelerators. Solutia decided to stop production as the unit is loss-making.
Monsanto employs a total of 890 people at its Antwerp site.
