Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
On 21 April 2010, the management of the Delphi plant in Strasbourg (324 workers) announced the closure of the factory which produces hydraulic pumps for the auto sector. The Delphi group could not find a buyer to take the plant over. Potential buyers were in part dissuaded by the 34 millions euro they would have to pay to the employees in negotiated severance arrangements in case of an unsuccessful take over. The plant will close on 30 November
