Description
Emergency medical information service 061 de Cataluña laid off 107 workers in April as a public health campaign focused on the swine flu outbreak came to an end. The CNT union has criticised the move of Atento, a Telefonica subsidiary who were subcontracted by local health authorities to run the telemarketing service. Along with questioning the necessity of the dismissals the union have made a point of criticising the fact that medical services had been subcontracted to the private sector in this case on the grounds that the cutbacks could affect citizens' right to receive emergency attention.
