Description
Ciena Corp, manufacturer of fibre optics equipment, announced on 10 May that it is to cut between 120 and 140 jobs as part of a post-acquisition restructuring. The company had acquired Nortel's Metro Ethernet Networks Business in December 2009. As of May 2010, there is no information on where exactly the jobs will be cut; however, 17 job cuts are planned in Northern Ireland. The restructuring is expected to be completed by 31 August 2010. The company also operates in Switzerland, UK, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Russia and Poland.
