European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Nuova Pansac, one of the European leaders in plastics sector, is to cut 440 jobs by the end of May 2011. The new reorganisation plan announced by the company envisages the relocation of production in few sites, with the closure of the smaller plants: in particular, the plan provides for the closure of the plants located at Portogruaro (in the province of Venice), Zingonia (in the province of Bergamo), and Ravenna. Moreover, the administrative sites of Mantua and Milan should be closed too.
The trade unions harshly reacted to the company's decision, demanding the intervention of the national authorities in order to avoid all the plants' closures and the consequent job cuts.
Nuova Pansac produces a broad range of plastic products and it is leader in special films sector (alimentary films and hygienic-sanitary films). It has six plants, of which the most important is located at Mira, in the province of Venice. Totally, it has around 860 employees.
