Description
Barclaycard are to recruit around 250 jobs in Cardiff by the end of the summer 2010, as they are transferred from the Glasgow lending unit, which is to shut. While the jobs are officially being transferred, it is expected that few people will want to relocate from Scotland, so most positions will be recruited locally. The new jobs will for Barclay's Partner Finance, which provides personal loans through third parties. Steve Pantak from the union Unite said although the transfer was a blow to Glasgow, it was "clearly good news" for Cardiff. No figures were given for the number currently employed by the company.
