European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Montreal, a firm specialising in installing, maintaining and repairing electronic networks, presented the Spanish Ministry of Labour with a plan to dismiss all 139 employees. The firm blamed the move on poor productivity and poor market conditions, although its Zaragoza site, where 94 of the workers facing layoffs are based (the remainder being in Madrid), has suffered poor labour relations this year and unions have criticised the decision as "intransigent" and complained about a lack of dialogue with management.
