Description
On 5 March 2010, the daily Stuttgarter Zeitung reported on the loss of 330 out of 450 jobs at the AEG Electric Tools site in Winnenden. The article states that the company's management had confirmed this news at a staff meeting at the end of February 2010. The daily Stuttgarter Nachrichten also stated that management planned to relocate production, assembling and its research activities or outsource these units.
AEG is currently negotiating a social plan with the German Metwalworkers' Union. Due to an agreement from last year, jobs are protected until 30 September 2010. After that, the reduction in staff is expected to occur in waves. The reduction scheme is to be completed by mid 2011.
