Description
Finnish harbour operator Steveco plans to lay off nearly 100 workers in Kotka, southern Finland. A total of 64 stevedores will lose their jobs, with the rest of the cuts affecting managers and other staff. Dockers walked off the job to protest against the layoffs, that are to be staggered but begin immediately.
The job cuts are expected to save the company some five million euro. About 500 stevedores are employed at Steveco's Kotka port.
