Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
US computer manufacturer Dell has announced 100 new positions. The new jobs announcement comes shortly after Dell made 1,900 staff redundant at its Limerick manufacturing centre in 2009. It is now in the process of recruiting for 100 new posts at its two Irish plants in Dublin and Limerick. It is understood that the jobs are across a diverse base. According to a Dell spokesperson: "Dell in Limerick is a global strategic hub for operations, services and a range of support services in areas such as legal affairs, finance, admin support and marketing. There are currently a number of vacancies on site. A range of different qualifications and skill types are required to fill the high-end technical and engineering roles."
