Description

Delphi, a manufacturer of vehicle cables, announced the dismissal of 286 employees of its factory in Guarda by the end of May. According to the metallurgical trade union of Aveiro everything indicated that in the first quarter of this year Delphi would dismiss 185 employees more but that number finally increased to 286. Therefore, this decision was unexpected. The company justifies this measure with the global crisis affecting the car sector.

As reported, Portugal has applied for assistance from the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF).
