European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Przewozy Regionalne, a Polish rail operator, announced a restructuring plan that involves 700 layoffs. The trade union representatives (over 100 people) protested in front of the company's Warsaw office and demanded consultation over the restructuring plan. The president of the company informed them that due to the company's bad financial situation, the restructuring plan has to be implemented. Press releases on the subject inform that the company is deeply in debt and the aim of the restructuring is to save costs.
