200 new jobs to be created in Newbridge, Wales by US company General Dynamics as they win a deal to produce a new light tank for the British army. The deal is for around 600 vehicles, and will also safeguard a further 250 existing jobs. In a joint statement First Minister Carwyn Jones and Deputy First Minister Ieuan Wyn Jones said: "This announcement will not only create and safeguard the highly skilled jobs at the company's state-of-the-art plants at Oakdale and Newbridge, but sends a very clear message that Wales has the skills to manufacture high quality and internationally competitive products." No details were given on the number currently employed by the company or when the jobs were likely to be advertised and filled.
