Description
Posten Norden, the merged national post services of Sweden and Denmark, plans to cut 1,000 - 2,000 jobs in Sweden and Denmark during 2010. The reason is the 700 million SEK (70 million EURO) loss incurred during the last quarter of 2009. The crisis, coupled with customers' increased use of internet services have left the national post services struggling. Last year, the company cut 4,000 jobs in a restructuring programme designed to combat the economic crisis. Cutting an additional 1000 - 2000 jobs, is according to the company, necessary in order to streamline the operation and adapt costs to plummeting revenues.
Sweden and Denmark merged their national post services in June 2009.
