Description
MeadWestvaco is to close its packaging plant in Châteauroux dismissing all 162 employees in the first half of 2010. The plant is specialised in packaging beverages; especially beer, sodas and dairy products. According to management, the restructuring is due to the drop in demand for beer from two of the site's main customers, Heineken and Kronenbourg. Moreover, forecasts for 2010 are not favourable, management said. Employee representatives reject the decision.
