The food producer Starch Hungary is to create 137 new jobs by the end of 2010 at its new site in Zalaszentiván. The company is building a corn storage unit capable of holding up to 20,000 tons of crops and a starch plant with a capacity to process 200,000 tons of corn annually. The investment of more than EUR 100 million is being implemented in the industrial park of Zalaszentiván (Zala county). The project also benefits from a job creation subsidy of HUF640 million (€2.3 million) granted by the Hungarian state. Trial operation is scheduled for the end of the spring, while full functioning is expected to be reached by the end of 2010. In addition to the 137 jobs 1,500 families from the region will benefit from the investment as suppliers of raw material.
