Description
On 8 January, the aircraft manufacturer Airbus announced the reduction of 1,000 temporary agency jobs at its Hamburg plant.
The temporary jobs were created when Airbus suffered from technological problems producing the airplane A380. After finishing the 6,000th airplane, management confirmed the return of 1,000 agency workers to their agencies. According to the company, this measure is a signal that technical problems have been solved. The temporary workers were paid the same wages as permanent staff but will earn considerably less when returning to their agencies.
Airbus currently employs 5,000 temporary agency workers and 12,000 regular employees in its Hamburg plant.
