Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The management of the regional Hospital in Białystok (Wojewódzki Szpital Białostocki) plans to cut over 200 jobs - i.e. approximately 100 in technical services, 30 kitchen personnel jobs, and 77 jobs in the children's surgical ward. Long-term restructuring plans call for the reduction of 400 jobs by 2015. These will not be collective redundancies; some of the employees are expected to be transferred to other hospitals while others will retire. The hospital's workforce is threatening industrial action.
