Description

On 18 November 2009, the automotive supplier Mann+Hummel announced to cut approximately 330 jobs at its plant in Ludwigsburg. The company stated to restructure its operations due to a sharp decline in sales. Since the beginning of 2009, the company had adopted a variety of measures to cope with the economic crisis, such as short-time work, budget cuts and downsizing jobs for temporary agency workers. The current job reduction scheme is to be realised in a socially acceptable manner until the end of 2012, e.g. by offering early retirement schemes and not refilling vacant positions. Direct dismissals are to be avoided. Mann+Hummel employs 1,800 staff in Ludwigsburg and a total of 12,400 employees worldwide.
