Description

On October 22, mining group Anglo American announced plans to cut 2700 jobs worldwide and to sell non-core assets. The cuts were blamed on the need to create a more streamlined business and they will mostly affect managerial staff. The company plans to remove a layer of management and redeploy other executives nearer to the group's mines. As of November 2009 no date has been for the implementation of the cuts, and no further information is available on the affected operations in different countries.
