Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Blacks Leisure, a retailer of outdoor goods, announced plans to cut 50 jobs from its 250 head office staff in Northampton. The cuts are part of a wider restructuring scheme which includes the closure of 89 loss-making stores. The company's surfwear division was also put into administration while Lloyds agreed to freeze its lending agreements until November 30. As of November 2009 no date has been given for the implementation of the cuts.
