Description
Carraro, a multinational global leader in production of power transmission systems, is to cut 265 jobs at its main plant located at Campodarsego, in the province of Padua. The restructuring process is expected to be concluded by the end of 2010. In Campodarsego, Carraro employs 650 workers.
According to the company, the restructuring is due to the relevant reduction in turnover registered during the recent economic crisis. The trade unions reacted to the company's decision proposing the recourse to the job security agreement, instead of collective dismissals. In the next months the company and the trade unions should meet in order to find shared measures to tackle the negative effects derived from the economic crisis.
Carraro group manufactures components and transmission systems for agricultural and earth-moving machines. It has 4,200 employees, and plants in Argentina, China, Germany, India, Italy, Poland, and the United States.
