Description
Home secretary Annemie Turtelboom announced that only half of the retired federal police forces personnel in 2009 and 2010 will be replaced.
300 new police officers will be recruited in each year to replace 1200 police officers who will be retired by the end of 2010. Trade unions consider that this decision "puts the operational capacity of the federal police and the citizen safety at risk".
