Description

ST Dupont, French manufacturer of stylish lighters, collectible pens and stylish tech gadgets, has announced that it is to cut 72 jobs through voluntary departures in 2009. The restructuring will mainly effect the plant in Faverges (Haute-Savoie) in eastern France. The decision to cut jobs is blamed on the worsening economic environment. ST Dupont recorded a drastic decline in sales over the fiscal year that ended in March 2009. An additional reason for the company's weak financial performance was the fire at its Faverges plant in early 2008.
