Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
On 1 October 2009, Fabryka Łożysk Tocznych, a ball bearing factory in Kraśnik, announced a collective redundancy programme which will result in the loss of 290 jobs. More than 150 of the affected employees will benefit from an early retirement scheme. The redundancies are expected to be completed by late 2009. By then the company will be left with a workforce of about 2,000.
