Description
Geox Technic Development Slovakia, a shoe manufacturer in Prievidza, is to close and 470 employees will lose their jobs by the end of 2009. The management blames the closure on the current economic crisis. According to the affected employees, however, the company has received state aid before deciding to offshore the production to some other countries with lower labour costs. 70 dismissed workers were offered jobs in Gabor Company in Prievidza and Rialto Company nearby Partizánske.
