Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
In May 2009, industrial fan manufacturer Ziehl-Abegg dismissed 48 workers and reduced working time by 20 percent for remaining employees at it's Marcali plant. The redundancies came as a consequence of the global crisis affecting the building industry, which represents the a substantial amount of demand. Before the crisis, the plant was expected to expand, increasing employment from 100-150 workers.
