Description

The multinational Danish container shipowner, Maersk Line annonced on 30 September 2009 that 170 Danish officers will be made redundant. In the longer perspective they will be exchanged with foreign officers in order to bring down labour costs. This decision is a brake with a 100 years tradition that A. P. Moller ship first and foremost engaged Danish officers. "It is our task to secure that Maersk Line starts to earn money again. Therefore it was necessary to dismiss the Danish officers. it is a question of savings," said director in Maersk Line, Mr Henrik Sloth.
