Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Metso Paper, marchinery and equipment supplier for the pulp industry, has announced a workforce reduction of 288 at its units in Sundsvall, Karlstad, and Hagfors. Reductions will affect all personnel groups; 168 in Sundsvall and 94 in Karlstad will be made redundant. Negotiations should be finished by the end of 2009.
The Fiber Business Line has initiated major changes in its operating model and organizational structure to adapt to georgraphic shifts in the industry as well as declining demand. The reductions are part of the process to streamline FBL's operations and cost structure, to improve its competitiveness in a changing business environment.
