Description

Tenaris, which supplies tubes and related services to the energy industry is to cut 1,024 jobs by the end of 2011. The plan involves the closure of a plant in Piombino (124 employees), and job losses at the Dalmine plant (717 employees), the Costa Volpino plant (119 employees), and the Arcore plant (64 employees). The plan envisages new investments and a reorganization of production.

According to the company, the restructuring plan is mainly due to increasing international competition. The trade unions affected by the company's decision announced 10 hours of strike in all the Italian plants for October.
