Description
Lantmännen Group has given notice to 400 white-collar workers throughout the EU. This is part of a cost reduction program, announced in August, where the group plans to save 400 million SEK in a period of three years. Most of the redundancies will take place during autumn 2009 and will affect the whole organisation. The cost saving measures are expected to provide resources to invest in marketing and R&D, as well as to strengthen profitability in the long run. As of October 9, there is no information regarding which units or countries will be affected. The group, owned by 40,000 Swedish farmers, operates in 19 countries, and has 12,000 employees.
