Description

Telecommunication company Telenor will dismiss 225 employees at its sites in Karlskrona and Stockholm. In June 2009, the company had announced the cut of 380 jobs. After negotiations with trade unions, the number of job cuts was reduced from 169 to 95 in Karlskrona (58 redundancies and 37 retirements) and from 211 to 130 in Stockholm (78 redundancies and 52 retirements).

Restructuring is due to a decrease in revenue from international mobile traffic caused by fewer travelling by business customers. Management has also stated that costs have increased since the takeover of Bredbandsbolaget, Glocalnet and Vodaphone's Swedish mobile sections.

Telenor Sweden supplies mobile, fixed and broadband communication to private customers and organizations. The group has some 1.9 million mobile customers in Sweden.
