Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
On 9 September, Volvo Aero, which develops and produces components for aircraft, rocket and gas turbine engines with high technology content, announced it will decrease the workforce at its Trollhättan location by 160 employees. The notices of reductions are due to the decreasing demand for airplanes and airplane components. The internal restructuring results in 160 job reductions and affects academics. Negotiations with the Trade Union have started and are ongoing. Volvo Aero is a wholly owned subsidiary of AB Volvo.
