Description

German firm MAN Diesel will cut 550 jobs, or half of the staff at its Danish plant in Frederikshavn, Northern Jutland, due to the offshoring of its diesel engine output to Germany. Public service broadcaster Danmarks Radio (DR) reported the move on 4 August after its announcement at a staff meeting. The dismissals at the factory in Frederikshavn are due to take place by 3 September 2009. The large lay-off round will reportedly affect a number of the regional sub-suppliers to MAN Diesel.

As reported, Denmark has applied for assistance from the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF).
