Description

PPG, US paints and coatings maker PPG Industries at its Saultain facility, northern France, has announced that the group's plan to cut 200 jobs at Saultain and Marly between October and December 2009.

The unrest has been provoked by the group's plan to cut 200 jobs at Saultain as well as a further 40 positions at the Marly plant in the same region. The two sites employ a total of 690 people.

On 6 July, the employees of US paints and coatings maker PPG Industries at its Saultain facility, northern France, started a strike. According to the trade unions, one of the protesters has even resorted to hunger strike. Negotiations are currently underway as regards the amount of redundancy compensation.
