Description
Electrical components manufacturer ABB has announced 178 redundancies due to the closure of its Waterford factory. The plant, which manufactures distribution transformers for the construction and utility markets in Ireland and the UK, will close by the end of March 2010. It is reported that ABB is closing the Waterford factory because of a significant fall in business. ABB is a Swiss-Swedish-owned company and employs over 400 staff at five different sites across Ireland.
