Description
Fujifilm France, a subsidiary of the Japanese photography group Fujifilm Holdings Corporation, has announced that it will cut 278 jobs in France before July 2010.
The facilities in Cournon d'Auvergne, Le Palais-sur-Vienne (in central France), Villeneuve d'Ascq (in the north), and Sarreguemines (in the north-east), could be closed. The sites of Bouldon, southern France, Brece, in the northwest, and Bois d'Arcy, northern France, will be preserved, due to their logistics capacity.
The group plans to implement several measures to assist the 278 workers who will lose their jobs. Following the restructuring plan, Fujifilm will employ 308 in France.
Film and photo printing sales have been registering an annual drop by 20-30% in the past five years, the Japanese group stated. Fujifilm has seen a total loss of EUR 461 millions in the fiscal year 2009/2010, against a net profit of EUR 80 millions in the previous fiscal year.
