Description
Norske Skog, a world leading producer of newsprint and magazine paper, is to dismiss 600 people worldwide (9% the total workforce). The restructuring will affect 80 workers at Norske Skog Follum (Hønefoss in Norway), 200 at Norske Skog Parenco (Holland), and 320 at other locations (not announced). The job losses are attributed to the need to cut costs. Norske Skog has 16 paper mills around the world and its operating revenue in 2007 was approximately NOK 27 billion.
